USA
We have welcomed our new board member USA Terry Stone this year! Terry is passionate animal welfare activist who dedicated his time in rescuing dogs (focussing on boarder-collies) from killing shelters in the US. We met Terry during our stay in Galapagos and his ideals and ideas really connected with our mission. After our trip to Laos he invited us to his house in Delaware. We started working towards our registration in the US as a non-profit. The 501c3 status would allow possible US donors to claim donations made to Travelling Animal Doctors form their taxes. We got help from the organisation '4feetforward' who brought us in contact with a non-profit lawyer and together we filled the forms! |
After our Greenland mission we went back to the States to focus ourselves on the further basis of our American non-profit status and to make a start with fundraise campaigns.
In total we had 4 fundraisers:
-We did a bake sale at Concord Pets in Hockessin. A huge thanks for Allice Stone, Hannah Stoughton, and..... for baking al those delicious cookies and cakes!!
-We had a stand at Tales Around the Tower organised by the Delaware Humane Association.
-We attended at ... also with a stand.
-And we had a wonderful fundraise BBQ at Terry's place with live music! A huge tanks goes to ..... (music) and of course the hosts!
All these fundraise events were a huge success, thanks to the dedication and work of Terry, Alice Stone, Hanna Stoughton and Ellie Schwartz (and many more!) In total we managed to rais almost 1700 us for our project next year in Ecuador! And not only the money was a success: in such a short period of time we have met so many wonderful people who's animal hart is in the same place! We made many useful contacts with a variety of companies', NGO's and private projects and we can't wait to start working with them making the world a better place for the animals, one dog/cat/elephant/goat (you name it) at the time!
